How Country Store handles personal information.
This policy explains how Stone's Throw Software Inc. collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information for Country Store.
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Who We Are
Country Store is operated by Stone's Throw Software Inc. We are responsible for personal information under our control and have designated a privacy contact for questions, access requests, correction requests, and complaints.
Privacy contact: Privacy Officer, Stone's Throw Software Inc., wes@stonesthrowsoftware.com.
Information We Collect
Depending on the form or service, we may collect:
- name, email address, and optional phone number;
- business, farm, market, stand, or organization details;
- address, general location, approximate map pin, region, hours, products, photos, and notes;
- information about what local food people want to search for;
- communications preferences, survey responses, and participation interests;
- technical information such as browser user agent, form timing, and hashed IP address for spam and abuse prevention.
Why We Collect It
We collect personal information to:
- review producer, stand, vendor, market, and local food listing submissions;
- respond to inquiries and communicate about participation;
- create, manage, correct, and improve Country Store listings and services;
- understand what people want to find on the map;
- manage founding provider, supporter, survey, and feedback opportunities;
- protect the site from spam, abuse, or improper use;
- comply with legal, accounting, security, and operational requirements.
What May Be Public
If a listing is approved, some business or listing information may be displayed publicly, such as business or stand name, general location, approximate map pin, website, public contact information, hours, seasonality, products, photos, and description.
Personal contact details used for review or follow-up are not intended to be public unless they are also submitted as public listing information or you ask us to display them.
Location and Address Choices
Exact addresses can be sensitive for small farms, home-based sellers, and roadside stands. We may offer choices such as exact address shown, approximate map pin, community only, or address kept private for review and service delivery. We aim to collect only the location detail needed for the purpose.
Consent and Email
Required service consent is used for review, follow-up, account or listing management, and related Country Store services. Marketing or update emails are optional and separate. If you agree to receive occasional Country Store updates, services, or related opportunities, you can unsubscribe or withdraw that consent at any time.
Service Providers and Storage
We use service providers to operate Country Store, including website hosting, cloud storage, email, analytics, security, form processing, and payment or customer-management tools if introduced later. Current hosting and storage are provided through Microsoft Azure.
We try to use Canadian storage where practical. Some service providers may process or access information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy, including review, service delivery, legal, security, accounting, dispute, and business continuity needs. We may retain approved public listing information while the listing remains active.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. No internet or storage system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect information against unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal, or similar risks.
Access, Correction, and Withdrawal
You may request access to your personal information, ask for corrections, or withdraw consent, subject to legal or operational limits. If withdrawing consent affects our ability to provide a service or maintain a listing, we will explain the likely consequences.
Questions and Complaints
Contact the Privacy Officer at wes@stonesthrowsoftware.com. We will review privacy questions or complaints and respond as reasonably required. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, depending on the applicable law.

We may update this policy as Country Store grows. The updated date above will show when this page was last changed.
